Connor Hatcher is 16 years old and a sophomore at Broadway High School in Broadway, Virginia. He started playing the upright bass when he was 12 years old. He has won first place in both youth bass fiddle competitions and in adult bass fiddle competitions. Besides bluegrass bass, his other interests include acting, musicals, basketball, golf, skiing, camping, hunting and fishing. He plays percussion in the BHS Band Program and Drumline in the BHS Marching Band. He is also a member of the BHS Honors Choir.
Spencer Hatcher is 19 years old and a freshman at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. He is majoring in Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies and also in Business & Finance. He started playing the banjo when he was 12 years old. He has won and placed in numerous banjo contests. Besides bluegrass banjo, his other interests include acting, musicals, basketball, golf, skiing, camping, hunting and fishing.
Dane Hatcher is 22 years old and is employed with Serco in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Dane started playing the violin when he was 6, ukulele when he was 13 and the guitar when he was 16. His main musical interest is in 50’s, 60’s and 70’s Classic Rock guitar. He started playing mandolin with The Hatcher Boys in the Winter of 2015. Dane earned his Private Pilot License when he was 17. His other interests include studying Classic Rock groups, photography, cinema, golf, skiing, anything 70’s and classic muscle cars.
Michael Hatcher is Dane’s, Spencer’s and Connor’s dad. He started playing banjo at 19 and the guitar at 23. He has been involved in music all of his life – including church and school choirs, gospel quartets and bluegrass bands. He helped start The Hatcher Boys as a way to combine his sons’ talents together and create an avenue for them to grow into better musicians. He is married to Holly, and together, they are very proud of their sons’ musical talents and accomplishments.
